Community Agreements
Community Agreements for AMC2022 hybrid experience
The AMC is a collective effort and thrives off the generosity and commitment of all the presenters, participants, coordinators, volunteers and staff.
The AMC is an opportunity to model frameworks informed by liberation and care.
The AMC is an opportunity to model frameworks informed by liberation and care.
These agreements are designed to support AMC participants to show up with their full selves. They are designed to help us navigate the inevitable conflict that can arise when flawed and beautiful humans are attempting to create community together. They are not designed to address deliberate attacks on our community. The AMC staff will immediately remove anyone who is showing up with the intent to inflict harm on any participant or the conference as a whole.
We ask that all participants agree to the following, as we move together through sessions, nighttime events, and all the spaces in between virtual and IRL.
- Take care of yourself! You do not have to attend everything, do everything or be everywhere throughout the weekend.
- Ask questions before assuming. The best way to understand the choices, actions, or intentions of one another is by asking.
- Default to direct communication before a public “call-out.”
- For conference-related concerns, email amc@alliedmedia.org
- For support with interpersonal direct communication, contact the Safety Team. The Safety Team’s space is within the “Support and Vendors” section of Accelevents, which is linked in the left sidebar when you’re logged into the platform.
- When offering critical feedback, do so with the belief that people can change; when receiving critical feedback, listen to others with a willingness to change.
- If you need something at the conference, ask for it!
- Email us at amc@alliedmedia.org
- Reach out to us on Accelevents in the “Help Desk” space
- Stay flexible and patient around any technology needs, changes, cancellations or schedule shifts throughout the conference.
- Respect the identity parameters of sessions. For ex: If a session says for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) only, and you do not identify as BIPOC, please do not sign up for that session.
- AMC sessions often fill up quickly. If you register for a session, and no longer can attend, please unregister from the session to make space for others who are looking to register. Please do not register for more than one session per session block.
- When you are in sessions, adhere to the following:
- Do not record or screenshot any session without notification or consent.
- Mute yourself when you are not speaking.
- Consider these tips for digital safety.
- Help ensure that the AMC is accessible for all. Review these tips for supporting disability justice and language justice at the AMC.
- Have fun!
